About place:

Bingen beams are one of Norway's oldest cultural monuments related to timber floating. The beams in the Glomma at Sørumsand were used to collect and sort timber from the entire Glomma river system before further transport to the sawmills around Øyeren and the Oslofjord. The 51 characteristic stone vessels in the river are today an important landscape element and symbol of the area's strong timber and industrial history.
