1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (CET)
Hosted by KUBEN Arendal
About event:
Welcome to a lecture by historian Gunnar Molden. He will tell about two Copenhagen cultural figures who wintered on Tyholmen in Arendal in 1795/96.
One winter in the late 1790s, the composer Schulz and the theater director Warnstedt wintered on Tyholmen in Arendal. During their stay, they were welcomed with open arms by the city's bourgeoisie and found themselves well-accommodated in each other's company as guests at Rasmus Ørting's inn on Tyholmen. They had been on their way to Lisbon, but their ship had to seek refuge due to a terrible storm.
Gunnar Molden will tell about their experiences and what kind of relationships they developed with the people they met during their visit. To conclude, the audience will be encouraged to sing along to "Here Come Your Small Arms", which is performed every year in the thousand homes to the tunes of one of Schulz's compositions.
Senior Wednesday is for everyone – a warm welcome regardless of age!
