All the buildings on Furøya are protected by the Norwegian Ministry of Cultural Heritage. The guesthouse has been restored by Aust-Agder Turistforening (AAT) in collaboration with Aust-Agder County Municipality, Furøya IKS and Furøyas Venner. It was opened as a DNT cabin by the Prime Minister on July 1, 2021.
