About event:

MAGICAL, CAPTIVATING AND BEAUTIFUL Daniel Herskedal is a musician and composer of extraordinary calibre. Unconstrained by frameworks and conventions, the Norwegian composer and brass instrumentalist has earned a reputation as a musician who has pushed the instrument's boundaries both technically and sonically, creating spellbinding and extraordinarily beautiful music. Since the release of his first album, Slow Eastbound Train on Edition Records in 2015, Herskedal has toured across Europe. His follow-up, The Roc, drew critical acclaim for its broad mix of influences from folk, jazz, classical and Arabic sources, while the national radio channel France Musique described the ensemble as one of the most unique and innovative. In addition to his album releases, Daniel has also established himself as a leading composer through a number of commissioned works, including for the BBC Concert Orchestra, Marine Music and the Moscow Patriarchate's Male Choir. In 2019, Herskedal made his film composer debut with the music for The Last Black Man in San Francisco, produced by Brad Pitt. In 2020, he composed the music for Coca-Cola's worldwide commercial (Open Like Never Before). In 2021, he received the Spellemann Prize in the composer category for his solo album Call For Winter, and in 2022, he received "The Ambies" in Los Angeles for the podcast 9/12 in the category "Best Original Score and Music Supervision". Herskedal was also nominated in the Spellemann category "International Success of the Year". The album Harbor (2021) was named World Jazz Album of the Year by British Presto Music and nominated for International Album of the Year by Deutscher Jazzpreis. Don't miss a rarely beautiful and intense musical experience. Daniel Herskedal – tuba Eyolf Dale – piano Helge Nordbakken – percussion
