Gisakura Tea Estate

Tea plantations form a distinctive part of the landscape around Gisakura on Nyungwe’s western side. Visit Nyungwe offers community-based experiences and tea tours in the Gisakura and Banda areas. Enquiries for these experiences can be made through Gisakura Reception Centre.

One&Only Nyungwe House

One&Only Nyungwe House is a luxury resort beside Nyungwe National Park and a working tea plantation near Gisakura. The resort is shown on the park’s current visitor map and provides accommodation close to the western visitor area and several of Nyungwe’s activities.

Source of the Nile – Gisovu

A spring near Gisovu is marked on Nyungwe’s official visitor map as a Source of the Nile. The northern part of Nyungwe sits on the Congo–Nile divide, making the park important for the headwaters of both major river basins. This is a useful geographic and interpretation point for the northern park area.

Kamiranzovu Swamp

Kamiranzovu is one of Nyungwe’s major high-altitude wetlands and a distinctive part of the park’s landscape. It lies within the protected forest and can be experienced on guided hiking routes.

Canopy Walkway

Nyungwe’s suspended Canopy Walkway crosses high above the rainforest near Uwinka. The experience is reached on a guided walk from Uwinka Visitor Centre and gives visitors wide views across the forest canopy. All activities in Nyungwe National Park are guided and should be booked through the park.

Gisakura Visitor Centre & Campsite

Gisakura is one of Nyungwe’s main visitor hubs on the western side of the park. The area provides visitor information and access to guided hikes, colobus tracking and community experiences. Gisakura Campsite is nearby, and the park’s 280-metre rope course is located at the Gisakura Visitor Centre.

Uwinka Visitor Centre, Campsite & Guesthouse

Uwinka is Nyungwe’s central visitor hub, with the visitor centre, campsite and guesthouse. Ten hiking trails begin from Uwinka, and the Canopy Walkway, colobus tracking and the Nyungwe Zipline are accessed from this area. The café at reception is open for day visitors and overnight guests.

Munazi Lodge

Munazi Lodge is a park-managed eco-lodge near Pindura, with nine A-frame cottages and 20 beds. Built with reclaimed exotic wood from the park, it provides a mid-range accommodation option within the Nyungwe landscape and links visitors directly to the park’s guided activities.

Kamiranzovu Waterfall

Kamiranzovu Waterfall is reached on one of the guided hiking routes in the western part of Nyungwe. The park’s visitor map lists the Kamiranzovu Waterfall route among its public walking trails. Visitors should arrange the hike through the park rather than treating the location as a self-guided destination.

Nyungwe Nziza Eco-lodge

Nyungwe Nziza Ecolodge is an accommodation option near Kitabi on the eastern side of Nyungwe National Park. It is included on Nyungwe’s current visitor map and can serve as a base for visitors approaching the park from the Huye/Kigali direction.
