Terms of Use
Welcome to Places. We are building a community-centered platform where people and organizations can share places, events, and local knowledge. These Terms are here to keep things clear, fair, and safe for everyone.
1. Acceptance and Scope
These Terms of Use apply to your access to and use of Places, including our website, mobile applications, and related services. By creating an account, using Places, or continuing to use the service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, please do not use Places.
2. Eligibility and Account Responsibilities
Please provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity through your account unless applicable law says otherwise.
If you suspect unauthorized use of your account, contact us as soon as possible at [email protected].
3. User Content and License
You can share content on Places, including text, images, places, events, links, and profile information ("User Content"). You keep ownership of your User Content.
By sharing User Content, you give Places a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, display, and distribute that content only as needed to operate, improve, and promote the service.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to share your User Content and that it does not violate law or third-party rights.
4. Community Roles and Moderation
Places includes community features with role-based access (for example owner, moderator, and editor permissions). Community owners and moderators may manage participation, review join requests, and control visibility of community content.
To protect the community, we may remove content, limit visibility, suspend features, or suspend/terminate accounts when needed to enforce these Terms or keep users safe.
5. Places and Events Submission Rules
Content submitted for places and events should be accurate, lawful, and not misleading. Please keep your listings reasonably up to date.
If you include third-party links (for example ticketing or external event pages), you are responsible for those links and related claims.
6. Public Visibility and Platform Exposure
Some content on Places is public by design and may be visible to other users, indexed by search tools, shown in feeds, or exposed through public APIs where enabled.
By posting public content, you understand that visibility and redistribution may occur within Places and related integrations.
7. API and Integration Terms
If you use Places APIs or integration features, please follow the documentation, scope restrictions, and rate limits. API keys must be kept confidential and may be revoked for misuse or security reasons.
You must not bypass technical restrictions, scrape in abusive ways, or attempt unauthorized access to Places systems or data.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Places for illegal, abusive, deceptive, or harmful activity, including harassment, hate speech, threats, impersonation, malware distribution, spam, fraud, or infringement of others' rights.
Attempts to disrupt the service, bypass safeguards, or abuse submission/import features are not allowed.
9. Intellectual Property
Places and its branding, software, and service content (excluding User Content) are protected by intellectual property rights. You may not copy, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit Places materials beyond what is allowed by law or written permission.
If you believe content on Places infringes your rights, contact [email protected] with sufficient details for review.
10. Third-Party Services
Places may rely on third-party services such as authentication providers, maps, analytics, communications, or data-import tools. We are not responsible for third-party service availability, content, or policies.
11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Places is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability, complete accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.
To the extent permitted by law, Places is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from your use of the service.
12. Suspension, Termination, and Deletion Effects
We may suspend or terminate access to Places if you violate these Terms, create risk for users or the platform, or where required by law.
You may request account deletion by contacting [email protected]. Content connected to collaborative or public contexts may be retained, removed, or anonymized as needed for service continuity, legal compliance, and the rights of other users.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by applicable laws of Norway, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes related to these Terms or your use of Places shall be resolved by the ordinary courts in Norway, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time as Places evolves. Updated Terms become effective when published on Places unless a different effective date is stated. Continued use of Places after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
15. Contact
