 oundings.In the center of the Sognefjord\, one arrives at the idyllic Vi
 k in Sogn\, where one is met by our guide who will tell about the coasta
 l settlement environment where you find small wooden houses\, boathouses
 \, and other wooden structures. Further on\, one goes up into the center
  and gets to taste Gamalost\, the cheese of Vik.After the tasting\, one 
 continues upward through a lush cultural landscape with green hills\, su
 rrounded by mountains and nature. There\, one will visit Hopperstad Stav
 e Church and Hove Stone Church\, both from the 1100s..By visiting both c
 hurches\, one can experience the contrast between the stave church and t
 he stone church\, which illustrates how early church building in Norway 
 was influenced by both local traditions and European impulses. While the
  stave church served ordinary people and the local community\, the stone
  church functioned as a status symbol for the elite..On the way to churc
 h\, we also visit the Moahaugane and Bradehaugane burial mounds from pre

  the trip by fast boat from BergenThe trip starts at the Strandkaitermin
 al in Bergen\, 8:00 AM (arrive in good time)\, where you take a fast boa
 t up the coast of Norhordaland and into Sognefjord. Along the way\, you 
 will pass through Alverstraumen and Norway's westernmost mainland munici
 pality\, Austreheim\, before arriving at what is the first municipality\
 , Gulen\, where the fast boat makes a short stop in Skjerjehamn.Furtherm
 ore\, further into Sognefjord\, one will drive past the municipalities o
 f Hyllestad and Høyanger\, before arriving at Vik municipality. A little
  way into Vik municipality\, one arrives at Vikøyri\, where our trip wil
 l take place.When you arrive at Vikøyri\, the express boat stops at Vik 
 pier\, where our guide will meet you and your travel companions.We start
  the tour in Vikøyri itself\, where we will tell you about the Sognefjor
 d and the coastal settlement of Vikøyri with its small houses and boatho
 uses. Next\, we will have a tasting of Gamalost and raspberry juice. We 
 will then head up into the village and visit\, among other places\, Hopp
 erstad Stave Church\, Moahaugane burial mounds\, and Hove Stone Church. 
 The tour includes entrance to the churches.When the guided tour is compl
 eted\, you will receive a 2-course dinner at Blix Hotel\, and you will h
 ave the opportunity to explore the village on your own.Return from Vik\,
  back to Bergen departs at 5:10 PM\, but please arrive by 5:00 PM.This t

  to book the tour as a round trip starting from the Strandkai terminal i
 n Bergen\, or one can come to Vik on their own.If one wishes to travel t
 o Vik in other ways than by fast boat\, the alternatives are:CarTravelin
 g by car provides a high degree of flexibility and the opportunity to st
 op along the way. The usual route goes via Voss and over Vikafjellet. De
 pending on traffic and weather conditions. In winter\, the mountain pass
  may be delayed\, and it is recommended to check traffic reports before

 .noTrain and busIt is possible to travel by train and bus from Bergen to
  Vik\, usually with one or more transfers\, recommended via Voss if trav
 eling directly from Bergen. The travel time is typically between 3 and 5
  hours\, including waiting time\, etc. The bus is an environmentally fri
